My wife just told me that at her hospital system (Riverside County in California) they also neglected mental health. They put outreach workers with the homeless out to the field with no PPE and had no plan for any PPE in their mental health facilities

It only improved two weeks ago. Workers had to rise up and protest as well

She said “DMH and Public Health was a shit show”

consider the difference between authoritarian gov'ts and freer gov'ts in respect to levels of welfare support for the poor and needy. i.e that China and Hong Kong have few if any new cases now. do they not also have much better support for the poor and hungry, than do we here in the US, where we have hunger and shelter problems being uaddressed, and emphasis, higher rates of new cases anad new deaths from covid 19 by far than China and Hong Kong?

I think the fundamental difference between China (HKG) and the USA is in the power of a unified national (federal)-level public health response.
