John Horigan, Director of IRB and Protocol Compliance for the All of Us Research Program
Kituria Gaines, All of Us IRB Program Director at Emmes
Allison Lea, Public Health Analyst with All of Us at NIH
The January SMART Talk looks at how does an IRB manage the review of a research program that plans to enroll at least 1 million people who will share their electronic health record data, donate biospecimens for genomic and other laboratory assessments, respond to surveys, and have standardized physical measurements taken? Let’s find out from the All of Us (AoU) IRB. Although the research it reviews may be unique in its scale, we can all learn from some of the challenges the AoU IRB faced and addressed regarding innovative approaches to informed consent and recruitment, working with local context issues, engaging participants, and managing the single IRB process.
