MARÍA MARGARITA ZULETA, Dean of the School of Government of Universidad de los Andes; MATTHEW ANDREWS, Edward S. Mason Senior Lecturer in International Development, Harvard Kennedy School. Moderated by HELENA GARCÍA ROMERO, President of MIT Harvard Club Colombia.
Colombia faces unprecedented challenges. In addition to existing needs and gaps in social and economic indicators within different regions, the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken to control it have had a drastic impact on unemployment and poverty levels, as well as future negative impacts on education outcomes and gender parity. In order to face these challenges and have a sustainable recovery that positions Colombia on a higher development path, the State has to improve its capacity to provide services and to solve complex problems. This event brings together Professor Matt Andrews, Senior Lecturer in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, and Maria Margarita (Paca) Zuleta, Dean at the School of Government at Universidad de los Andes, in a conversation on how to develop better capabilities in the public sector in Colombia.
Presented in collaboration with Harvard Kennedy School, Escuela de Gobierno de Los Andes, and MIT Harvard Club Colombia.
