Book Presentation Ediciones El Puente and the Gaps of the Cuban Literary Canon. Post-revolutionary cultural dynamics
Cuba in the 1960s was a scene of unprecedented cultural production and experimentation. In Ediciones El puente y los vacíos del canon literario cubano, María Isabel Alfonso captures the intensity of those years with a nuanced approach to El Puente, a collectively structured, semi-autonomous publishing house (1961-1965) whose work was excluded from the Cuban literary canon. By proposing categories such as “revolutionary existentialism," the author uncovers the forgotten history of the publishing house while exposing the limits of literary historiographies and canonicity.
