FORUM: A Portrait of John F. Kennedy: The Early Years

On Tuesday, February 16th at 6PM ET, Fredrik Logevall, Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard University professor of history and international relations is joined in conversation with Pulitzer Prize winning historian and biographer Jon Meacham to discuss Professor Logevall's recent book JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956.

There are many biographies dedicated to chronicling the life of the 35th President. Historian Fredrik Logevall takes a compelling look into President John F. Kennedy’s youth and rise in politics. Logevall's perspective on “the wider setting of the era” to draw out threads and themes, paints a portrait of a young man full of intellectual curiosity, privilege and a genuine passion for politics. It is a fresh take on how President Kennedy’s early travels in Europe on the brink of war and the Middle East shaped his worldview and informed his framework of American global leadership. The Institute of Politics was founded in 1966 as a living memorial to President Kennedy. IOP Director Mark D. Gearan ’78 will provide the introduction.
