Description
Join us in this two-part webinar to learn about the scope, goals, and current research findings of Mapping Color in History™ [MCH]. MCH is a digital research platform that harnesses the power of digital humanities to compile pigment analysis data from existing and ongoing research on scientific analysis of Asian paintings and make them searchable for historical research. The Mittal Institute has supported the project from its inception.
The first session on December 11 will introduce the project and its most-up-to date search engine celebrating the release of MCH v.1.5. On December 13, the second session will share key research findings in the study of pigments in South Asian paintings conducted under the aegis of the MCH project, especially in India.
Chair and Moderator: Jinah Kim, George P. Bickford Professor of Indian and South Asian Art, Department of History of Art + Architecture; Professor of South Asian Studies, Department of South Asian Studies, Harvard University; and Project Director, Mapping Color in History (MCH)
